work experience
Legal - corporate - securities regulation - I have worked in the legal industry for my entire career and am currently the legal research associate to Joel Seligman, lead and/or sole author of many publications including the 11-volume Securities Regulation treatise. In addition to proofreading and verifying accuracy of text, I provide research materials to Joel for inclusion in the treatise, mini treatise, law review articles, and class notes supporting his position at Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, as well as other projects.
Yoga/yoga therapy - My yoga and meditation teacher training is noted below. For several years, I owned and operated a yoga studio in Penfield, New York, Lotus Blossom Yoga, conducting private yoga/meditation lessons based on each student's specific needs. This was in addition to my legal securities regulation assignments, and all funds received from the yoga studio were donated to various charities.
education and training
I hold a Bachelor's Degree cum laude in Business Administration from Ohio University, Athens, Ohio, majoring in economics and attended law school at the University of Toledo for one year to attain the skills I use now to work on my securities regulation assignments.
An experienced Yoga Alliance-registered yoga teacher (receiving my teacher training at breathe studio in Pittsford, New York), I have studied with Breathing Deeply Yoga Therapy to learn in-depth yoga therapy skills. Additionally, I am a davidji certified meditation teacher, which involved months of study and a week long immersion experience in California. I'm certified to teach yoga and meditation to assist individuals in addressing various personal situations, including medical conditions such as Parkinson's disease and cancer.
arts and music
I have sung with various choirs since the age of about three. Currently singing with the Asbury First United Methodist Church Sanctuary Choir, I have performed with other choral groups including Musica Spei, Concentus, and the Rochester Oratorio Society.
community and arts support
In addition to being a Sustaining Member supporting our local public radio station, WXXO Classical/WXXI, I also support the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra; am a member of the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra League; and hold season tickets for the local GEVA Theatre.
I am working with the Chautauqua Institution and Chautauqua Foundation to provide funding for their plans for the future, being (1) a member of the Bestor Society for establishing an endowment fund , The Cross Wilhelm Miller Park Fund, to provide for the landscaping and maintenance of the Speaker's Platform in Miller Park in order to sustain and promote the beauty and legacy of the Park, as well as (2) a member of The Eleanor B. Daugherty Society for establishing an endowment fund, The Beth Renn Cross Memorial Music Fund, to support the Chautauqua music program so that generations to come may enjoy the finest of all music genres.
personal notes
I'm very excited about the next stage of my life, especially strengthening ties with Chautauqua. Chautauqua holds a very special place in my life - a vacation destination in my early childhood and throughout all my adult years. This early and continuous exposure to various forms of art and points of view helped shape me into who I am today. And Miller Park is particularly special to me, as my late husband Roger Wilhelm and I were married on the Speaker's Platform in 2005.
By supporting the Chautauqua Institution and Foundation, I feel confident that independent thought, education and the arts will continue to grow in our society, helping balance various sources of negativity that may be attempting to gain control.
